The US Survival AR-7 .22 Caliber Rifle

U.S. Survival AR-7As I was researching .22 caliber rifles today I found myself looking at the U.S. Survival AR-7, made by Henry Repeating Arms. It is a low caliber survival rifle used by pilots in the Air Force, which has carried into the civilian world as well. Just think of all the times you’ve wanted to take a rifle with you on a hike or a camping trip, but didn’t care to lug it around. How convenient would it be to throw this into your back pack?

U.S. Survival AR-7It weighs a whopping 2.5 lbs and is only 16.5 inches long when stowed. It can easily fit in a back pack, boat compartment, in an airplane or even in your 72 hour emergency kit. Since it is chambered in .22LR, you can carry a significant amount of ammo with you without adding a ton of extra weight to your load.

The biggest eye catcher of this rifle is the way it stows. You can disassemble the entire rifle and it stows in the stock. Another neat feature about the rifle, is the stock is completely water proof. So, even if you run into trouble with a raging river, boating accident or something similar, your U.S. Survival AR-7rifle is designed to float.

Also, the barrel is coated in a sturdy ABS plastic and coated with Teflon to protect it from corrosion. It’s the ultimate, light weight survival rifle….and I’ve gotta have one! Here’s the link directly to the AR-7.

The price tag on this one is suggested at $275. Completely affordable.

I just picked mine up yesterday. I love this little rifle and can’t wait to shoot it. Henry makes a fine product and I have one of their Golden Boy lever action .22LR rifles and it is just awesome! I had always wanted one of these survival rifles, but there was a lot of negativity about them jamming and stove piping. Henry had really done a good job of working out the bugs. I put a magazine of eight Federal Bulk ammo in it and just hand loaded and ejected and it seemed to work great. I have a feeling that it is going to shoot just fine. Like you said, the perfect little weapon to throw in your back pack or bug out bag! Hope you are enjoying yours.

Nice Michael. Besides being compact enough to take with you, one of the nice features of this rifle is the fact that it even floats. Tell me, how many rifles actually float? Glad you like it so far.

I would recommend giving it a throug cleaning before shooting it and fe-lube dith a top quality gun grease, Tetra is an excellent choice. For bulk ammo winchester m-22 cycle as good as cci stingers. mine has never failed to cycle. run them wet and keepem clean
