Greenlee County Police Involved Fatal Shooting In Morenci Arizona (Video)

A fatal shooting took place in Morenci of Greenlee County Arizona. Too close to home!

I live in a pretty small community here in southern Arizona. If any of you have been to the Gila Valley, you know just how small it is. More on the Gila Valley later. The incident I’m about to show you happened in the even smaller community of Morenci Arizona.

Greenlee County Fatal Shooting Details

The fatal shooting involved a dispute between Morenci resident Chris Ingram and his estranged wife. Chris had shown up to his sisters house expressing his frustrations about his wife and her desire for a divorce. Chris’s sister thought that he might have been drinking.

The siblings then found his estranged wife with another man, which, at that point, Chris told the sister that she had better leave because things were about to get bad.

Officers received calls reporting that Ingram was damaging their vehicle and becoming hostile. They pulled Ingram over and attempted to speak with him, when Ingram appeared to be crouching over to conceal something on his lap. Officer Mennen asked him to step out of the vehicle, then Ingram began to fire on Mennen, and then turned his fire to Sgt. Mingura.

Two officers were injured during a fatal shooting in Greenlee County Arizona which occurred in January 2015. The incident involved Dep. John Mennen of the Greenlee County Sheriff’s Office and Clifton Police Sgt. Jason Mingura. 29 year old Chris Ingram died from gunshot wounds received after exchanging fire with the two officers on U.S. Highway 191.

Mennen was shot twice, once in the abdomen, shielded by his body armor, and once in the shoulder. Mingura was also shot twice, once in the hand and once in the buttocks.

Both officers survived the incident.
